This One You’ll Like

And why be angry in this one teetering life when there are now geese flying overhead in perfect aerial formation, knowing instinctively when and where to fly. And then, when the sky is wool-spun navy, and the paper birch trees are framed in crimson and gold, why should we fuss over the petty little things? Some may not be so petty, nor so little, but when I look up into this grand sky, I see God moving – He is moving!

Watch how He stirs the waters with the train of his robe, His feet slippered in clouds! When I see him moving, I remember that He’s the same God that conquered the void of night and made stars shine through all the way to our small blue planet, He clothed us in water and spotted us with hungry passion and life.

He’s the same God that can call upon the fire and the rain, send famine and thirst, joy and abundance, and I remember that He is the same God that took the lifeless by their wilted shoulders and pulled them, pulls us up into breath! Don’t you feel that thumping heart?

When I think about all of Him and His things, all of this madness—the jackals of war and and the wolves that pant lies and the ragged dogs flea-bitten with the mange of addictions and the furious demons that terrorize the night and the serpent plagues of the day, they do not, cannot- any longer overwhelm me.

And maybe I haven’t been clear enough, but God isn’t deliberating, He’s not having to think long and hard about the situation, He has it all mapped out like on an etch-I-sketch and a light bright, and a pop-up poster board with little tabs and notations, and I might not be able to see where I’m going- it might feel like aimless wandering, but He knows where we’re—ALL of us— are going, and in some delightful and scandalous way He’s going to fix all the terrible broken things! He’s going to re-order their pieces into something brand new, something unseen before.

Why be angry?
