Things I Saw on a Walk Today

Lizzie Joy (Loveland) Nunemaker

I notice Charlie has two orange dots on his canvas of white fur, they glow like seeing sun spots but they are in fact from tiger lillies he had been investigating that decided to leave their pollen as a souvenir

A dead field mouse with the sweetest auburn fawn colored fur and helpless little paws curled up like holding little balled up notes

Two handsome collies swaggering like dignified Wild West sheriffs out on patrol

Some tent worms made a tree hammock that shined like an old-time movie ghost in the sunlight

A walker with a very cheerful shade of merrigold sports tank top

A many windowed clubhouse of sorts on stilts emerging out of the noble millrace canal, floating flecks of dust moving past like on a grocery store conveyor belt

A bench commemorating Harold E Hartzler

1934-1999; 65 years- rest in peace Harold

A whole cathedral of morning glories taking over a mailbox,Purple and violet striped multi faced choir with tentacle arms reaching out for God

Two turtles sitting on a felled tree in the canal: the piece that they are sitting on is at an acute angle, perhaps 40 degrees. They do not move, but a ripple moves past them

They are pretending to be wood

My son starts yodeling or alternatively singing, and as we pass they dive in, the jig is up

Five healthy looking brown water fowl waddling and nibbling at a neighbors well manicured lawn

A house with two plastic flamingo, one metal flamingo, and a statue of an armadillo waiting on the back stoop to greet you when bringing in the groceries

A free mini book library with a red door attached to a one person bench in case you want to peruse the contents right then and there
